Go to
Start > All programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Sound recorder
Then click on the red button there and talk to the mic. Find out whether the line is blinking or not. Try to play the file after recording. If you can hear your voice, then there is no problem with the software.
- Check the pins of your headphone/mic which are connected to the computer.
If you cant hear the recorded voice, then follow these steps,
- Go to "Control panel"
- click on "Sound and Audio Devices"
- click on "Audio tab"
- In the sound recording box, click on "Volume"
- At the top left, click on Options and find out whether there is a tick mark near Advanced control
- If not, put a tick mark near Advanced control.
- Now you will see the advanced control box below the "microphone"
- Click on "Advanced control" there
- If Mic1boost is selected there, then deselect it
- put a tick mark near Mic2boost
- click CLOSE
(you may try selecting mic1boost and deselecting mic2boost, if this will not work)
Try recording something using the sound recorder again. If its working, then your mic is OK now.
